Robert B. "Bob' Locker and his wife Mary Grace, were dear friends, who served as best man and brides maid when Bonnie and I were married in Coronado.

Before the squadron deployed. In '43, we two couples lived together in a double apartment.

Unfortunately, during a training exercise off Maui, Bob and I were involved in a mid air collision. Both hellcats were destroyed. I managed to bail out while my dear friend did not survive. Words can not explain or describe the heart ache and the sorrowful burden I have carried ever since then. Bob was a dear friend. I will love him with great respect forever.
